Trekking a circuitous route to Toubkal  via the beautiful mountain lake Ifni and berber villages

Day 1 – Marrakech-Imlil-Tacheddirt

After an early breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Imlil , 90 km from Marrakech . Here you will meet your support crew, the cook and muleteers. Introductions made, mules loaded, we will set off on a 2 hour uphill hike to Tamatert Pass (2280m) On the way you will see typical flat roofed Berber villages surrounded by small terraced plots of land. Continuing a gentle climb we will arrive at Tacheddirt village (2290m) The final destination for the day. Accommodation will be either in a guesthouse or camping.

Day 2 – Tacheddirt – Azib Likemt

Today we set off early for a long days walking, starting with a steep climb to the Likemt pass (3555m) which offers spectacular views of Toubkal Massif and Tacheddert village. We descend to our campsite beside the Aouri River (2270m).

Day 3 – Azib Likemt-Amsouzart 

After breakfast we leave our camp and follow the Aouri river, gradually climbing to the Aouri pass (3120m). From here we can see panoramic views of Toubkal summit and the Amsouzart valley. We then descend down to Amsouzart village (1740m) we we will spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 4 – Amsouzart-Lake Ifni

Today is a shorter day of trekking of about 3 hours. We pass through several small Berber villages before reaching Lake Ifni (2295) for lunch and our destination for the day. After lunch there will be plenty of time to relax and swim.

Day 5 – Lake Ifni – Toubkal Refuge Via Tizi n’ Ouanoums

A long day so an early departure at 5am. Leaving the lake we will follow the river, crossing a field of small stones to climb up to Tizi n’ Ouanoums (3665m). Again there will be more amazing views of Toubkal Massif. Then we start our descent to the Toubkal refuge (3207m) where we stop for the night, either in the refuge or camping.

Day 6 – Refuge-Toubkal Summit-Refuge

A very early departure at 4 am for the 3 hour climb (approximately) to the Toubkal summit. Rest for a picnic lunch at the pass (3900m) before taking the ridge to the peak. Here we will rest and enjoy the panoramic views ,the spectactular Atlas Mountains , the Sahara to the south and Marrakech to the north. After we have rested we will return to the refuge for the night.

Day 7 – Refuge-Imlil-Marrakech

After breakfast at 7 we will leave the refuge and start walking down to Imlil, following the old mule trails through Sidi Chamharouch Shrine. At Imlil village we will stop for lunch at a guesthouse. After lunch it is time to say goodbye to our mule team then meet our driver who will return us to Marrakech.
