Mountains, Desert, Historical Sites and Berber villages All in the comfort of a 4x4

After breakfast you will picked up from your hotel to start your 4×4 adventure. Our destination today is the beautiful Bougmez Valley, located in the central High Atlas , 200k east of Marrakech . Lunch will be at the old Berber town of Demnate. and then a visit to the old Jewish quarter, before we continue on to our overnight accommodation at a guest house in the valley.
Today we explore this beautiful valley and the Berber villages where the inhabitants still farm using the most traditional methods. The valley is surrounded by the soaring massifs of the High Atlas that provide a stunning backdrop for the lush fertile farmland. There will be an option to do a short hike if desired. Overnight is in a guesthouse in the small village of Zawit Ahnsal.
Today we make our way to the High Atlas village of Imilchil. This region of the Atlas is home to the Berbers from the Ait Haddou tribe. We will pass through remote villages , with spectacular vistas of the High Atlas. This area is relatively untouched by tourism and offers a chance to see the traditional Berber life. Imilchil is home to the Berber marriage festival that takes place every September.
Today we will explore Imilchil and its surrounds including the two meromictic lakes , Tislit and Islit and hear the legend of Morocco’s own Romeo and Juliet that gave Imilchil the marriage festival.
After breakfast we will start our journey south , leaving the High Atlas as we make our way towards the Saharan plains. Overnight will be at a hotel in Dades Gorge.
Today we will drive to Merzouga, in the Sahara via the stunning Todhra Gorge. A ravine with 300m high rock walls of orange limestone. On the road to the gorge we will pass green palmeraies and Berber villages. Leaving the gorge we make our way to Merzouga, in time to take a camel ride to a desert camp and watch the sunset. You will enjoy a traditional Berber meal and be entertained by Berber musicians
Rising early to watch the sunrise we make our way back to Merzouga and then on to Ait Ben Haddou via Ouarzazate. On the way you will stop for lunch at Kelaa Gouna, a city famous for the Rose Festival which takes place in May every year after the harvest of the petals from the damask rose. Continuing on to Ouarzazate, through the Dades Valley, before leaving for Ait Ben Haddou. Visit the ancient kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou . Overnight in hotel
Today we make our way back to Marrakech driving over the Tizi N’Tichka pass 2260m at its highest elevation. The pass offers fantastic photo opportunities of the High Atlas. But firstly we take a little side trip to the crumbling ruins of Teloute Kasbah , the last stronghold of the House of Glaoua.
